"Kili Poyi" is a very good attempt!

Kili Poyi, the debut venture of Vivek-Joseph-Vinay trio, is a slick, light hearted, crazy movie that is mostly funny and engaging. Listen, don't go in expecting a classy, award winning film, but just go in ready to laugh and get entertained. I thought the writing had real wit, not to mention the references(the refernces to the dialogues in Akkakke Akkare Akkare and few other movies were kick ass) and one liners that any film enthusiast will appreciate.

The story revolves around Chacko and Hari enacted by Asif Ali and Aju Varghese; two young ad professionals who are fed up of their tedious work life. So they decide to take a break to kill all their stress and head to Goa, where Chacko ends up meeting a beautiful foreigner. Some unexpected incidents, their return from Goa, a mysterious bag & some shady characters forms the rest of the story. The raw, unadulterated language used in the movie blends with the setting and the dialogues range from the hilarious to laugh-out-loud moments. Kili Poyi is also enriched with plenty of raunchy humor which is absolutely situational and, though there is a lot of mayhem, there is no space for slapstick. It does dabble with some stereotypes but the times the stereotypes are broken which brings a light fun and jovial spirit to the film and has some of the funniest moments.

The lead actors did a great job. The film works so unbelievably well because of the rapport between the 2 main actors. Asif Ali- Aju Varghese duo carried the film well on their shoulders. Asif has done a very good job. This is his best performance since a very long time. He looks in control and has a much improved dialogue delivery and comic timing. So is Aju Varghese. The movie is really bold and raw in some areas. It might be the reason why it received an "A" certificate from the censor board.

Coming to the technical aspects of the movie; the art direction is apt, the cinematography is perfect and the editing is crisp. The "Kili Poyi" song was visually engaging, creatively conceptualized and choreographed. Rahul Raj's musical score is Kick ass. It is so exciting, innovative and merges with the flow of the film. This promising team has definitely has had a great debut and I'm sure their best is yet to come.

Overall, 'Kili Poyi' is an engaging, light hearted movie that has enough good moments to keep you in your seats. Entertainment is guaranteed. Go watch it!
